Dr. Celina de Borja is a board-certified pediatrician with fellowship training and certification in sports medicine, who cares for children, adolescents, and young adults with a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions. In addition to general pediatric orthopedics, her areas of interest include sports and dance medicine, injury prevention and bone health.

Originally from the Philippines, de Borja earned her medical degree from University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center. She completed her pediatric residency through Hackensack Meridian Health at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, and then pursued fellowship in sports medicine through Harvard Medical School at Boston Children’s Hospital. During her fellowship in Boston, de Borja served as team physician for Northeastern University’s women’s basketball team; traveled with the Northeastern University women’s field hockey team during their global experience tour in Buenos Aires, Argentina; served as team physician for Newton South High School’s football team; and was a consulting physician for Boston Ballet School, Boston Conservatory and Berklee School of Music.

De Borja has been an active medical volunteer with RunSafe, providing medical coverage at various sporting events within the bay area. She also serves as the Medical Director of the ODC Healthy Dancers’ Clinic, wherein she collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide educational programs, musculoskeletal screening, and accessibility to help guide dancers and performing artists.

At UCSF, Dr. de Borja will be based primarily at the Benioff Children’s Hospital in Mission bay, and will also see patients at the pediatric specialty care clinic in San Mateo.
